Incredible scenes in the Turkish parliament Punching, pushing and shoving

Incredible scenes in the Turkish parliament

Punching, pushing and shoving

There have been scuffles between politicians in the Turkish parliament for the second time in a week.
The meeting of the constitutional commission, which had already been postponed from last Thursday due to fighting, was held to discuss lifting lawmakers’ immunity from prosecution.
Dozens of members of the governing AK Party and the pro-Kurdish opposition party the HDP shoved, punched and kicked each other as the heated discussion descended into violence.
Similar clashes in parliament last week delayed efforts to pass legislation on a migration deal with the EU.

What happened last week?

Deputies threw punches, pushed, slapped and scuffled with each other in the assembly late last Wednesday.
Footage shot by Mahmut Tanal, a member of Turkey’s main opposition Party (CHP) showed deputies shoving and jostling each other.

What prompted last week’s disagreement?

The row was sparked by discussions over military operations targeting Kurdish militants in Turkey’s largely Kurdish southeast.
The fierce exchanges erupted after MP Ferhat Encu from the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) referred to the deaths of civilians in military operations against Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) mlitants in the southeast.

Portugal’s largest trade union announced a week of industrial strike action

Unions announce week-long strike action

The leader of Portugal’s largest trade union on Sunday announced a week of industrial action for later this month to have workers’ rights returned to what they were before.
In a rally to mark Labour Day, Arménio Carlos, said the Communist-backed CGTP union would stage strikes from the 16 to 20  May, telling followers that change will be only achieved through an active struggle.

Among the grievances of the union is the fact that the government has been dragging its heels in following through on electoral promise to reduce working weeks from 40 to 35 hours.

The action is likely to have the biggest effect on the civil service.

Beware about lotteries!!! Is it true? you received call and they said you won millions of Euro.

Beware about lotteries!!!

Unfortunately some of Lyca mobile s clients have been receiving unsolicited phone calls or texts from 0092******* telling them that they have won a public lottery amount 20,000 euros and so on...

Be sure this is fraud. They aim to get you to ring a Premium Rate Phone number where the fraudster will then keep you on the line for as long as possible, charging a very high rate per minute.
Otherwise, they will ask you for an advanced fee to release the money that they say you have won. Again this is fraud: Once you have paid the fee communication will end and you will ultimately not receive any money.

Please remain vigilant and do what you can to being deceived by bearing the above in mind. Remember: If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. The Lyca Group does not run any public
lotteries. Please see more information in Lyca Mobile officeal site.

Anti-immigrant AfD says Muslims not welcome in Germany,“ISLAM IS NOT PART OF GERMANY”

“ISLAM IS NOT PART OF GERMANY”

By Tina Bellon
STUTTGART, Germany (Reuters) – Members of the anti-immigration party Alternative for Germany (AfD) on Sunday backed an election manifesto that says Islam is not compatible with the constitution and calls for a ban on minarets and the burqa.
Set up three years ago, the AfD has been buoyed by Europe’s migrant crisis, which saw the arrival of more than one million, mostly Muslim migrants, in Germany last year. The party has no lawmakers in the federal parliament in Berlin but has members in half of Germany’s 16 regional state assemblies.
Opinion polls give AfD support of up to 14 percent, presenting a serious challenge to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservatives and other established parties ahead of the 2017 federal election. They rule out any coalition with the AfD.
In a raucous debate on the second day of a party congress, many of the 2,000 members cheered calls from the podium for measures against “Islamic symbols of power” and jeered a plea for dialogue with Germany’s Muslims.

“Islam is foreign to us and for that reason it cannot invoke the principle of religious freedom to the same degree as Christianity,” said Hans-Thomas Tillschneider, an AfD lawmaker from the state of Saxony-Anhalt, to loud applause.
Merkel has said freedom of religion for all is guaranteed by Germany’s constitution and has said on many occasions that Islam belongs to Germany.
“ISLAM IS NOT PART OF GERMANY”
Up to 2,000 left-wing demonstrators clashed with police on Saturday as they tried to break up the first full AfD conference. About 500 people were briefly detained and 10 police officers were lightly injured, a police spokesman said.
The chapter of the AfD manifesto concerning Muslims is entitled “Islam is not a part of Germany”. The manifesto demands a ban to minarets – the towers of a mosque from where the call to Muslim prayer is made – and the burqa, the all-encompassing body garment worn by some conservative Muslim women.
Germany is home to nearly four million Muslims, about five percent of the total population. Many of the longer established Muslim community in Germany came from Turkey to find work, but those who have arrived over the past year have mostly been fleeing conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Last month the head of Germany’s Central Council of Muslims likened the AfD’s attitude towards his community to that of Adolf Hitler’s Nazis towards the Jews.
Although the AfD aimed to broaden its political agenda during the congress, members hardly debated on domestic issues, such as taxation and social welfare.
The party’s leadership has proposed the introduction of an income tax bracket system and the abolition of inheritance taxes, which experts say would benefit high earners.
The head of Germany’s DGB confederation of trade unions, Reiner Hoffmann, sharply criticised the AfD’s programme.
“Their alternatives are nothing but simple, dull and inconsistent,” Hoffmann said in a speech at an DGB event in Stuttgart to mark Labour Day.
He said the AfD was not only conducting a hate campaign against refugees, but also aiming for a tax policy that was against the interests of workers.

Hundreds arrested as German anti-immigrant AfD party congress begins

Nazis out” was the cry from left-wing protesters inGermany on Saturday as delegates of a right-wing, anti-immigration party arrived for its annual congress.
Despite a huge police presence, hours of clashes followed in Stuttgart where demonstrators did their best to disrupt the gathering of the AfD, Alternative for Germany party.
Some 400 people were arrested.
Police said protesters threw stones at officers and attacked them with fireworks. Tear gas and pepper spray were used in response.
The clashes underline growing social tensions in Germany after a record-influx of more than 1 million migrants arrived in the country last year alone.

We are united by our conviction that we can’t let the AfD go unchallenged and that it is a party which is not only racist but which is engaged in the politics of exclusion and social division,” said protester Dominik Schmeiser.
Police said there were more than 1,000 security forces and around the same number of demonstrators overall.
Proceedings inside the conference hall were forced to start late.
Led by Frauke Petry, the three-year-old AfD party says Islam is incompatible with Germany’s constitution.
It is expected to adopt an openly anti-Islamic manifesto this weekend.
The AfD entered three state parliaments last month by attracting votes from those opposed to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open door policy for mainly Muslim refugees fleeing war in Syria.
The party will be encouraged by the success of the far-right in last week’s first round of presidential polls in neighbouring Austria.
